Yukon 2dr 2wd Project Thread
I figured that I would post a project thread here because many people showed interest and comments when I posted pictures a while back, and I am always open to comments and suggestions.
A few of these pictures might be out of place on the whole project timeline but the general idea should be achieved I think. It started out as a 1992 GMC Yukon 2dr 4wd with the Bright blue metallic and silver 2 tone as in this picture.... Then eventually around the 2002 era I shaved it and painted a few things inside but it was still my daily driver so I didnt go to extensive with it. Then around 2006 I decided that since I had a perfectly good garage and a new daily driver that it was time to start on the neverending project. My intention was to make it a 2wd that lays frame on 22's with a powerful but street friendly motor. In order to change it from 4wd to 2wd I needed to swap out the frame to one that could take the 2wd components, the way I did this was to take a 2wd 4 door Tahoe frame front half and then mate it up with the original back half. |

Re: Yukon 2dr 2wd Project Thread
Then I hade the 4 door 2wd frame delivered from a local salvage yard
I was amazed at how many holes end up in the frame when they are all stripped down The end result after mating up the frames and filling in all of the holes Then prepped and painted the Frame |

Then after the frame was finished I brought the body in to shave the firewall
After I put the firewall in primer, I went ahead and put the truck back on to the frame. I replaced the roof and quarters also since I was doing everything else. I purchased roof with no roof rack holes and quarters with no flares. |

Re: Yukon 2dr 2wd Project Thread
After putting the new panels on it I put the truck in primer and painted the firewall and then brought it home to do Motor, wiring, Brakes and a few other odds and ends prior to paint.
The motor is a 355 tbi motor with Vortec heads and the GMPP Tbi Intake, The procharger was a P600b that I eeded up ditching because of various reasons. |

Hung the sheetmetal on the fron to check clearances on everything and buttoned up the motor.
Also started on the interior, updated the dash to the newer body style and painted it along with all of the other inter pieces. |

Up date as of 02/16/10
I going to be swapping out the old wheels for the new Boss 335 Then I will be updating the old console setup with the new one. The old setup Then the new setup. The rendering that is pictured here was done by a friend of mine Steven Whitaker. If anyone one wants more info on it I am sure he will chime in... |

Re: Yukon 2dr 2wd Project Thread
Good build, thanks for posting it!
:edit: Just noticed, is that the older style column with the newer dash? I couldn't ever picture how it would look, if that is it, I might go that route too.. Last edited by 69c10stepside; 02-16-2010 at 05:37 PM. |

Re: Yukon 2dr 2wd Project Thread
Wow, our trucks have a lot in common -- I have an Optima red top and a Titans license plate too!
Seriously, what an awesome build. I liked it in the second pic, as your DD, so I know it will be killer when you're done. Love the 335s, by the way -- are those the chrome finish, or the super finish? Oh, and what part of TN are you in?

Man you did a lot of work on that thing. I did not know you took it all the way to the frame. Nice job..
Hey you need to come out to Southeastern Mini Truckin Nationals this year, the 3 of us are now running the show and would like to see your kick a$$ ride at the show.

Yeah I am just following every forum you are on and posting my build... The LS motor looks to be sooner then later this year. It all depends on how in depth I get into the real street and outlaw 10.5 cars this season. I am slowly gathering parts but I'm not ready for the truck to be out of commision for the swap yet. Good things to come though. |
