AC Parts for my 72

I've been collecting AC parts to put my air conditioning system back together and I came across this in a 70's truck, I think it was mounted to the side of the AC housing it was broke off, I could see where it was attached. Is this part of the ac system.
Thanks

Yes it is. Here's a pic of mine. It's a vacuum canister for the a/c control switch.

Re: AC Parts for my 72

My 72 has a plastic vacuum canister. Look in the LMC catalog and you'll see a picture of what they looked like in 72. I'm planning on doing the same as you. Collect the parts for some day.

Re: AC Parts for my 72

That metal can in the picture was used in the car/truck line throughout the 60's up to about 1970 or so.
I see them alot on the 60's cars I work on.

Sometime around 71 GM switched to a plastic vacuum reservoir in both the car/truck line.
