Brake Upgrade - 2011 Suburban

I've got a 2011 Suburban with nearly 100K on the original brakes. I'm not looking for a hardcore update (Wilwood would be nice, but that stuff is out of my budget). Figured since I have to replace the brakes I might as well buy something of better quality or design that what was original. Does anybody have thoughts on upgraded rotors and pads that would deal with the heat better?

We've taken some trips out west (mountains) and find that the brakes heat up very quickly making them basically worthless 1/4 mile into a 6 mile descent.

Thanks!
