All my 15x10 wheel owners..
I found a really good deal on some 15x10 wheels.. Anyone run into any problems with rubbing?
I'm in the process of bagging the truck and want to know if that will rub if I try to lay it down? Thanks! |

I'll take a wild guess and say you will have clearance issues the lower you go.

Re: All my 15x10 wheel owners..
I am running 15x8's up front on my '72 and had to do some grinding on the disc brake calipers to get them to clear. Other than that... my 15x10's out back fit just fine. However... I don't have a "bagged" truck.

Re: All my 15x10 wheel owners..
When I bought my truck there was a set of 15x10s on the rear and I think it was fine at normal height ( I never drove it) but if you're bagging it I don't think it would take much work to get them to fit if it doesn't.
I couldn't tell you about the front though

It's the front that limits you

Re: All my 15x10 wheel owners..
I ran 18X10, and 15x10 on the front with no issues. I have 15x8 on there now
with no issues. Truck is bagged and 2.5 drop spindles. Lots of room. I have the two 15x10 rims for sale they are no good with disc brakes, but would be perfect for somebody on the rears with the dog dishes.

Re: All my 15x10 wheel owners..
I am running a 18x9 5" BS on the front of my 72 with no issues at all. I have plenty of clearance for a 10" wheel. Granted, this is an 18". A 15" may get rather close to the upper control arm.

If you want a good answer, then you need to mock them up. Backspacing is critical, so is the adjustment of the Adjustable track bar. I put one of my aluminum 15x10 4" back space,I think a 11.5 wide tire will fit fine,Gonna try a used 12.5 first. Nothing better than big wide contact patch!!!

Re: All my 15x10 wheel owners..
On a 15" wheel 8 wide with 4" bs is max, period. And if your low you will need 225/70/15tires to look decent. I have 255/60/15s and had to raise mine up because they rubbed the fender when turning.

Re: All my 15x10 wheel owners..
Sorry wasn't to complete. I have 15x10's for the rear 15x7's for the front. I was going to try 255-70's up front, but my truck is not lowered. Thanks for the input Robznob11. That tells me should fit fine.

Re: All my 15x10 wheel owners..
I was not trying to be mean, just clear. My truck sets like an aired out bagged truck. I was disappointed to have to raise the front some cas I like the look. But this can cost you a fortune to figure out, I'm on my second set of tires. On a larger rim you can go more bs and have less problems. But on a 15 and dropped 8 is max to clear outer fender and ca/tr. A 225/70/15 is the only tire that won't balloon so much that the fender will hit, yet still retain enough hight so you don't have scrubline issues and crosmember issues and fit a 8 wide rim. If you do go bags you could run 255/60 like mine but not drive incircles lol. Just straight or stopped. But you could air up and clear . But I like rolling low. One other note on the back to tuck your rim needs no more than 5.5 lip/dish on front with the shorter 67-70 1/2 rear, if you have a late 70-72 rear you will only want a 4.5 lip/dish. Again you can get away with more on large wheels because they have a short side wall that does not balloon out like 15" tires.I tried all I could to clear my 255/60 and it just would not work without raising it . I had 24 1/2 " from top of fender cut out to floor and when you turned the tire protruded out and the sidewall contacted the cut out. If I were to hit a bump in a turn now it will probably still hit. But with the wheels straight I have a good 3/4 in from fender lip to sidewall. Only other advantage to air is that when you air out the wheel will come in at the top whichs should help to clear while turning. I'm debating going to bags so I can lay out

Re: All my 15x10 wheel owners..
Just for reference:The '70 in my avatar has 15x8 (6) lug. Wheel Vintiques. 4" drop rear springs. 255/70-15 center well and don't have any problems.
. Fronts are another story.....
