1969 5500 gmc

looking for info for our 1969 GMC 5500, have the serial # is there a way to decode it so I can find out which engine I have in it as it needs a rebuild but can't find any info to order the correct parts. It is a V/6 engine but need the size, can anyone tell me where I can get the info I need as I have the # from the front right block? # is EM50V-C082574 thanks

engine is a V/6 know that for sure was wanting to see what it was thru the serial # as now the engine is sealed up so as not to have it get stuck and can't see the block for the view. thanks

VIN just tells you it's a gas V-6, but not which one. A E-5500 could have a 305 or a 351. Only way to tell for sure is look on the block in front of the right head as in MusicMan70's picture. Engine parts are getting tough to find, but these guys can help:
