Here's an exam question for the decoding service parts identification decals.

Decode this one.

No cheating..or looking at your note's now....or off to the corner chair.

I looked at this one yesterday and got stuck on the 64 part!

67-69 GMC 2wd Super Custom 1ton 351 V6. Not sure if its a single wheel rear axle or a dually.

I know the year range because of the speed warning and v6 engine being offered 67-69 only. It's 2wd because 351 was not offered in 4x4 trucks. I say 1 ton because of rear shock option. Could be bigger than a 1 ton I suppose, though I don't know much about the series 40-60 trucks.

So how close am I?

Ok I will take a guess a 67 1 ton gmc 2wd.
HO 72 tells me 1 ton
351 v6 gmc only
Hydraulic steering, ait that how they put it for 67 with the weird power steering?
Just my guess.

I see some people figured it's a GMC from a couple of the listed options..those were good deductions.

I have a few this style that GMC used model numbers in their vin codes.

So basically all you get from this decal is

C= conventional cab
M = V6
3 = 1 ton
64 = which is 84 inch cab to rear axle dimension
0V = cab and chassis
C = 1967
1737 = sequence number

There really is nothing in the vin to identfy the assembly plant in this vins case.

It has some interesting formatting issues with the option code not starting at the 2nd character in the 5 character format, but instead it is started at the beginning.
I haven't seen many with part numbers on the decal either.
