What coil springs for a 54 Chevy with aluminum heads.

I have a 54 Chevy with a Fatman front end. It uses all Mustang II parts. I got a kit and put on bigger brakes from a Chevelle. I bought Mustang II V8 springs and cut 1 coil out. The ride was kinda rough but after 500 miles the springs have settled and now my bottom A frames are north of my rack about 2 inches. Fatman told me to buy new V8 springs and do not cut them. Does anyone have any experience with springs that they have used? I just want it so sit low but i hate the ride. Are dropped spindles the answer. Any help appreciated. I have the mustang top and bottom A frames with all new bushings and new ball joints and tie rod ends etc. and the strut rod also. The engine is a Big Block with Aluminum Heads and Intake.I know the answer is out there. Thanks guys.

The lower A-arm should be flat, or level to the road at ride hieght. If you want it lower than that, use drop spindles. '78 MII V-6 springs work well, but don't cut them. The V-8 spring may be needed with the BBC even if it has aluminum heads. Run a front sway bar.

One thing that you didn't mention was shocks. Once you have done what Rob suggests, take a look at your shocks too. A nice set of billet adjustables would be icing on the cake.
