3D printing parts

I work as a hobby with solidworks a CAD program and like to construct replacement parts for our cars. I drive a 1979 Chevy Blazer. 350, 4x4

It is only a hobby for me, I earn nothing, the price only consits of the 3d print costs.

I wish I had of you suggestions for new components or requests for changes to existing ones.

I will update this thread whenever new products have developed.

Re: 3D printing parts

How does one make the 3D CAD model.? Say of a radio delete plate.?

Is there a way to scan it into the computer or does it need to be measured and drawn.?

There are lots of 3D printers around where I live but I don't know how to make the model.

Re: 3D printing parts

That's very cool! I bought a cnc this year, just bought the last piece of software I needed to use it last Friday. Can't wait to get started! How durable is the plastic? Are the parts smooth or do you have to sand them when they're done? Thought about getting one but I play with aluminum a lot.
Very cool work! What else have you made?

New guy, 3 posts, but I can only find two, from Germany, and you guys are jumping on this? ... Maybe some more info, does he have a 67-72 truck ? (yes I realize its not a requirement to be a part of this board) This is the area where you talk about your 67-72 trucks, not advertise I can make parts for you. Plus you need to be a subscriber if that's what you are wanting to do.

he said its a hobby. Thats not his website. Hes got samples of things that would go on our trucks. Calm down tiger. Doesnt look like advertising to me.
further the company shapeways is a dutch company based in new york. so doubtful its his. Hes just trying to help folks out with basically free DIY parts.

Really, didn't know you guys were so close? The board runs well the way it does because we have some basic rules to follow.

I have zero problem with him wanting to help. But this is one of these things a mod needs to be involved in, and if you look his original post has already modified some by a mod. That means he probably came in looking to sell.

Ive been a member here for a long time, and while this guy may be legit, and hopefully he is, Id like to know a little more before everyone starts doing business with him Free or not. Ive seen things like this turn in to bad deals in the past.

And thanks for calling me tiger, brought back nice memories of my long passed mom ... she used to call me that =)
