Diffeence Between Integral Head & Non Intergal
So what is the difference between the two? Is one better then the other? What years where each made? I was thinking of looking for a streight 6 and want to be informed. Thanks Gary

An integral head has the intake manifold built into the head itself. It is all the same casting. The earlier "non" integral head has the intake manifold as a seperate casting that bolts-on just like the exhaust manifold.
As a general rule, most guys prefer the non integral.

IMO I would look for the older model inline six. The intergral head come out in the late 70's I think. I know my 81 has one. The intake manifold is cast with the head so there's no changing them for any performance parts. Now I don't know if the head off a older motor will fit the new blocks as I haven't researched it.

The integral heads started in '75, IIRC.
You can use either one, they interchange.

The intregal head came out in 75 like Longhorn say's although they didn't use it on Camero's & 292's. They were real bad about cracking the heads & ex. manifolds & broken bolt's in the ex. manifold. The head was ungodly heavy & burdened down with weird emission control gadget's. It's best to stay away from them.

Don't let the above discourage you if you have the chance to buy an otherwise good engine with an integral head. As already mentioned, the earlier head is a straight across swap on any of the 63-up inline sixes.
