Re: What did you get done 10/24/2010 edition

I picked up a short block for my heap Saturday. Sunday I actually spent a little time on my Dodge Cummins truck. Haven't done that in a really long time. I need to buy a trickle charger to get the batteries back up again. They've been sitting so long they've gone down a bit.

Re: What did you get done 10/24/2010 edition

Picked up a bunch of sheetmetal + welder + complete brake parts for my truck. Hopefully in the next two weeks i'll have a truck with a solid cab and one that'll stop.

Re: What did you get done 10/24/2010 edition

got a chance to pick up an 85 pick up. free of charge. went to go pick it up with the trailer only to find it in 4 feet high grass while 90% of it was rust. then figured if the motor ran decent we would take it but no luck getting it started.

pretty sure it was a nesting home for quite a few different critters.

Re: What did you get done 10/24/2010 edition

Changed spark plugs on the big block. I have to do that every year, since I only drive in town -rarely over 35 mph, and the plugs are all totally loaded with black carbon. When it has clean plugs it runs better than most new vehicles I have owned. Installed my second set of Bosch platinum plus, but next time I think I will just buy a bunch of standard R44Ts and save the $$$.

I found an ad on another forum for a guy that was bailing out on his 77 project. I contacted him about a few parts that I was interested in, and went to look at what he had. Before I knew it, I was going back and loading up a LOT of parts. I may go back next week, but this was my haul for the first load.

Looked at some potential houses. Found one on a 0.9 acre lot with a 36x38 workshop. Really liked the neighborhood (very country, exactly what I am looking for! So sick of this apartment!). We are going to look at the inside of the house with a realtor tomorrow.

Re: What did you get done 10/24/2010 edition

Continued the battle with the leaves. Mulched twice and they keep on falling!

Finally finished getting our wood supply in for the winter with one last run to the woods. Unloaded and stacked 6 more ricks of wood. The C-30 and trailer worked liked I hoped so life is good! Glad this project of firewood is closing. I'm beat after this week-end and work tomorrow!

Did a weigh-in with it loaded:

and today took it back to the scales empty just to see the difference.

Cleaned them both up and parked them for the next time such haulin' tools are needed. Just glad the going and getting and unloading and stacking another winter's worth of firewood is done! Granted, with this C-30 and its dump bed along with a switch to a tandem trailer, this year was the easiest!

Best truck by far in value of investment and what it can do that I've had despite it being 25 years old. They really are built 'like a rock'!

Nice find! There is more? The seller really must have wanted out of that project to sell off all that! Very nice!

The next load will be sheetmetal. He has a few doors, fenders, and a 77 core support.

Took the bed off of my 85 1 ton crew cab so I can drop the gas tanks and change out a few other things.

Dam Ken... Looks like you need to build another square just to hold the parts... I'll loan you a truck for a while

Speaking of my truck, been trading calls with the insurance company all week after the roofer bailed on his responsibilities for denting my '85. Adjuster is coming on Tuesday and hopefully cutting me a check so I can fix this asshole's **** up... I believe my insurance company is going to go after him

Re: What did you get done 10/24/2010 edition

moved all the stuff from one side of the barn to the other, levelled the second half of the floor, and started putting down the Visqueen and 21AA into it. need to gat another 10 yards or so to finish it. Put most of the lurking spare parts on the 3 pallet racks I have in there now, next set is going to have 1st shelf 5 foot off the ground so I can roll my engines under it. Had my 50 year old check up, all good. Got to drive the 77 a bit, need to get the choke working right, got a nasty whine under power (seems to be the trans since it's gear specific), and the clutch is too low (grabs 1/2" off the floor). Love it.
