If you switch from the 3 speed to the 4speed the hole in the bellhousing is smaller for the 3spd so you may need bellhousing as well.

If you need help ID'ing ratios, etc., go to www.dandltransmission.com

Saginaws came with several low-gear ratios. The 3.11 ones came in some 6-cylinder cars in the '60s, & in '73-'74 Vegas. 3.50's came in some of the late '70s Vegas & clones (Monza, etc.). My '72 Nova came with a 2.54, but I changed it to a 3.11 years ago. With the stock 10.4" clutch, I have had no problems with it, even with a 350 engine. I wouldn't subject one to abuse, because they're not real strong, but I'll probably put one in my truck in the near future, probably column-shifted with a separate lever for reverse.

I've got a 3 spd you can have. Just removed it last weekend and it worked well. Out of a 68 GMC. I6.

You pay shipping and it's yours.
