I believe the 1/2 tons are 16 gallons and the 3/4 tons are 20.

YEP, I thought my tank was 16 gallons for 15 years because I could only get about 15 1/2 gallons in it when the gauge was on empty. After I restored it , it had sat for over two years, and when I carried it to fill it up it held 19 3/4 gallons. I thought the guage was not hooked up correctly because it was almost an inch past empty!
