new guy needs help

I'm trying to do a break and suspension up grade on my 63 C-10. I'm also swithing to 5 lug from my 6 lug. If I go with disc's from a 72 can I still use my stock master cylinder and lines? And what can I do to change my rear to 5 lug.

no u will have to get a newer master. for the rear i'd just have the axles redrill to a 5 i think that u can use the lines if there good.
ps for the rear brakes I swap the backing plate from a 91 sub rear (bigger drums) on mine 65 c10. hope that helps.

Most people do a front-disk/rear drum setup by either buying a kit or swapping a 72-87 system in. That would give you your 5-lug setup as well.

My 60 has a 73 frame under it. They used the 73 master cyl, booster, and lines. They even cut my old brake pedal, and welded the 73 pedal to it so I got a big brake pedal.
Only difference is the cab mounts are on the outside corners of the 60 and the fame brackets on the 73 is close to the frame.

When I bought the truck they had mounts on the front fenders, and the back of the cab was welded to the frame. I had a friend of mine extend the frame brackets out and we put rubber bushings on it to make the truck safer to drive.

So far so good, Am fixing to do a frame off restore on it, and trying to figure out how to make everything look neat and tidy underneath without looking like it was done by amatuers.

I think I'm going stick with the 6 lug set up. I orderd a disc break and suspension kit from early classic. Has anyone used this kit? The only reason I was thinking 5 lug is someone had told me that there are more wheel options with a 5 on 5 set up.

I haven't used the ECE kit , but I went with a Classic Performance Products kit (probably very similar) on my '65 and it worked awesome. You get everything from dust shields to cotter pins so it sure beats bolting on used parts.
