What are the bolts called that are like flange bolts, but then have an additional stud sticking out of the top of the head? They are used to hold an HEI external coil to the sidecovers on an older six cylinder.

Better yet, where would you find them?

Could you use stud bar (threaded bar without a head) and then a lock-nut, to achieve the same effect?

That might work, or even a slightly longer bolt for the sidecover ?.....not sure how to make it work and still get a good seal at the sidecover.

The description sounds like a stud bolt. to a seasoned mechanic.

ok....now were getting somewhere. Maybe if I take a regular bolt out of a sidecover and go to the specialty bolt store and ask for a Double-Ended Hex Flange Bolt .....with the stud end long enough to pass through my coil....

Doubt if you can buy them new anywhere. I would use a piece of all-thread or cut off a bolt. And get a flanged nut at the hardware store, if I wanted the flange. Put them together with red threadlocker and let it dry overnight before installing.

that sounds like a great idea. Will the threadlocker make it firm enough to torque down slightly (I'm sure the spec. isn't very much) without the nut moving? Never used the red thread locker.

When I need a thingamajiggy,I take one off a junker.Sounds like you figured a way around it making up that whatyamacallit.
