Carb problems?????

I am trying to get my new 72 running and ran into a problem. The truck has been sitting for awhile. I can pour gas into the carb and it runs fine til the gas runs out, but then dies. I took of the fuel line at the carb and checked/changed the filter and when I tried to turn over the engine gas shot out of the line. So I guess the problem is in the carb. Is there a simple fix or do I just need to get it rebuilt......Thanks Jason

Here is a pic of the truck by the way.

Re: Carb problems?????

Sounds like your accelerator pump. look into your carb with everything hooked up and push your throttle, look for a squirt of gas. If nothing happens then you need your carb rebuilt.

Re: Carb problems?????

With a Q-Jet you know nothing about what has been done or not done I would first check to see if the filter where the fuel line connects to the carb is clogged. If thats alright then check the float and needle valve.
