hi. I'm Robert. Been living in

Georgia for yrs now, but I'm building a house on my old homeplace (Grandfather's Grandfather's land) in Alabama that I grew up on.

Finally purchased the 70 model short bed Cheyenne that an older buddy of mine has owned 7 yrs or so. I've actually had the truck for a couple yrs or so, as he is in an extended care type place after having a real bad auto accident back in 2006.

It needs paint, trim, etc, but is in pretty good condition for a 39 yr old vehicle. I have pictures on my desktop, but not on this laptop I'm using down here building this house, as I'm staying in a prestigious (har har) 24 ft camper trailer.

I've owned all sorts of muscle cars, including a couple of nice SS Chevelles I wish I had back (don't we all). Currently own a 66 GT Fastback Mustang. I'm kinda non-partisan. I like all the cool old cars and trucks.

Looks like you guys have an excellent forum here. I'll probably be looking for some help as I'm not real savvy about the old Chevy trucks.

Nice to be here.

: )

hmmm. Looks like I was wrong. I do have a picture on imageshack. I have no idea what the spots are about. The camera lens must have had some condensation on it. See if I can get this image to post up....

Looks like a nice truck. It looks like your grill and hood are 69-70, but the cheyenne package didn't come out until 71.
More info? (engine, trans, options)
Welcome.

Welcome.
oh yeah? Like I say, I'm not real knowledgable about the old trucks, as I am the old cars.

I think the VIN indicates a 1970 model, as I know the grill does, so my guess is that somebody simply badged it with the Cheyenne emblem. That's the primary reason I'm on this board- to learn about them. Thanks for the info.

The truck is an automatic, with power steering and brakes. The interior is pretty good. I don't think it had factory air, as I've had a 70 SS Chevelle that had air, and this doesn't look like that. It has some ugly aftermarket unit that I will probably remove.

I would have started working on it long before now, but I obviously didn't want to put any money into it and then have his kids sell the truck. Now I can start working on it. At least fix what I hope are a few minor rust spots, and paint it. I just want to drive it. I've never been much into show vehicles. Those guys, as we know, get serious, down to nuts and bolts serious. Forget that. I'd rather drive em. Matter of fact, I'd like to make this a daily driver. I'm a builder and currently drive an 05 F-150, after having a Silverado before. I think I'm gonna prefer this 70 model.

Oh, and to further answer the questions, it's a 350. Not sure about the transmission.

Well, thanks for all the hellos and welcomes. I'll have to depend on info from you guys, I'm sure.

Sweet lookin short box!

I know what you mean about cars.
Had a 67 chev malibu convertable Dad and I restored when I was in high school. White top, dark metalic blue outside with med blue interior, sloted mags. Wasn't an SS but still did great for the 283 2 banger it had in it.

Mom made me sell it soon after we got it done. I still pick on them once a year since!

Welcome!!

If I wasn't so attached to my old homeplace in Cleburne Country (Cheaha Mtn area), as noted above, I think I'd like to live around Orange Beach/Gulf Shores.

Yea, me too, if I could afford it!

It is nice down that way. I lived in the Tuscaloosa area for a little while and was surprised at how much I missed the idea of the Gulf being so close(even though I almost never go).

one things for certain- one can afford it now much easier than a couple or so yrs ago, with the real estate prices taking a plunge because of this horrible market, combined with ever rising insurance costs on the coast. At least, though, it isn't as bad as the depreciation in Florida, especially some areas of South Florida.

I've considered buying a condo on the beach, but it's just not feasible for no more than I would come down, though I know I'd come more than I do now.

Living in Tuscaloosa wouldn't be bad either, if one is a born and bred Bama fan!

That's very true. A couple of fellas that I work with have beach houses and they said the insurance tripled/quadrupled after Ivan and Katrina-and then the market went south...

The thing about it though, is you could probably rent it out by word of mouth and pay or at least offset the mortgage on it. I know numerous people that have done that type of thing with vacation properties. (Just don't rent it when you want to use it.)
