69 C-10 winter projects

Since I bought a 55 Chevy sedan back in 2003, my poor 69 pickup has been getting nothing but neglect. OK, I replaced the driver's door hinge pins and window regulator, and even bought it some new tires. (The old ones had plenty of tread but were cracking after 9 years!) I also had an interior guy rebuild and cover the seat.

Here's what I plan to do this winter:
  • Install Auburn limited slip along with new pinion bearings, carrier bearings, and axle bearings. I may even replace the 3.07 gears with 2.76, but not sure a 10% reduction in highway RPMs justifies the expense and effort.
  • Install new Moog control arm shafts, ball joints, tie rod ends, and idler arm. (Parts I've been collecting since 2001.)
  • Finally, replace rusty, leaky, headers with Dorman ram's horns.

Just thinking out loud here!

1969 C10 (not the current one) that I bought in the early 1980s. Paid $1200; sold for $1500 a few years later. Just a hint at the appreciation that was coming.
