Can you help me decifer these codes?

Last couple of weeks I was stressing over what to do about my 305, then I realized I had never actually run the numbers on this motor to see if it really was a 305 as the P.O. said. Well, here's what I've found.

Block -
3970010 - 1968=327/1969-1979=350 (Also found 1 site that said 302 in 69 Camaro Z28)
Date code E248 = E for May/ 24 for 24th day / 8 for 19?8 (from this I'm not sure how to tell if it's a 68 block or a 78 block)

Heads -
3932441 - one website said 1969-1970 350, one just said 1967-1979
Date code H138 = August 13, 19?8 (??)

Valves - 1.94/1.50 76cc chambers

As far as the pad on the front under the alt. - I could vaguely see what looked like a vin stamped in it, but it was so slight that I couldn't read it. However, under that was a very clearly stamped TH277. The only thing I can find about that is that the TH prefix was a 1978 305 out of a Firebird. Hmm.

Thoughts? Any help is appreciated.

Also, how does this affect my cam choice?

Theres a 95% chance you have a 350. I would be willing to bet a lot of money its not a 302. It could be a 327 but its most likely a 350.Its definately not a 305. You can now pick a little bit bigger cam. A big cam in a 305 is a mild cam in a 350. most specs for camshafts such at the operating range is based on a 350.

The TH277 is more than likely an engine builders stamp. I'm betting it's a 78 block.
