I hate craigs list

On craigs list 3 days ago thursday,in delaware a pair of nos doors were listed for 600.00$. I called and he told me he had them for 30 years hanging in his grage and they were in his way and they got to go.I said I need them I'll take them, I knew this was a good deal.We talked and he worked down the street from my house and said he would bring them to work saturday and I could pick them up ,Great. Today I go to pick them up and he tells me he caint sell me the doors he has to relist them because he got so many calls from people telling him they would give him over a 1000.00$ up to 1500.00$ a peice for them. This sucks. Are they worth that kind of money.

They are worth what ever someone is willing to pay for them I would not pay that much for doors myself but then agian if I had $$$$$ to just blo and not worry about then maybe I would..

Boy...that's a tough call. Was it listed for $600 OBO? We have gotten so used to thinking that best offer means whoever comes the closest to what we are asking but best offer really means the highest offer! Don't misunderstand....I feel your pain. You never know though, this guy might be someone who is in a real financial pickle like so many people in the US today and that extra $$$ for them might make the difference in getting some utilities paid or who know what. Granted, I didn't talk to him, you did. I've lost a lot of carb deals because someone is selling an $800 carb for $150 and some other caller tells him it's worth $800. That's when the deal gets called off but I understand.

The other thing that sucks about craigslist is when the buyer says he will be by tomorrow with the cash but you never see or hear from them again. This has made many sellers like me say that it's the first one with cash in my hand walks away with the prize. With that said I still try to do the right thing and hang onto stuff for guys only to get burned once again. It's a tricky thing this "craigslist" but I still love it and think the world is a better place with craigslist and ebay in it!!!!! lol

If he made a deal with you he should have stuck with it, but I do understand his position as well. It would be hard to give up that much money when people were offering it...especially if you're in a situation where you need the money for bills.

And yes, I've seen NOS doors sell for 1200+

I think you got a bad deal. He should man up and sell you the doors for the price you agreed upon.

if your really pissed just get two friends and if all three just keep flagging his ads nonstop you can make him have to work at posting them to sell at his new higher prices

exactly. its the sellers fault he listed them too cheap.
He sucks & you got screwed.

Also I try & go as soon as I can with cash in hand so the seller has no time to change his mind or so noone else beats me to the good deal.

If it seems like a deal to good to be true on Craigslist,you have to buy right then and there with cash in hand.Dont give the seller time to think about it,if the seller delays then they are just fishing for a higher price then posted and walk away.Take my truck for example,offered $1,000 below his asking price with crisp $100 dollar bills in hand(that he could see)and bought my truck for under $2,000.I jumped on it the day he posted it for sale and all I had to do was put $10.00 in gas to get it home.Morale of the story is cash talks and bs I walk.

I'm sorry, the guy thinks 600 is fair, but finds out FOOLS will pay 1000-1400 each..
and your mad at him , why.. when you see a deal and know it's a deal you move..
can't blame him for wanting to see if he can get what people are willing to pay..
suck that you're gonna loose out, but if the shoes where reversed and you found out that you can get over double what you're asking, and people willing to pay that are calling..
I know you'd let them go for what you "thought" was the going price..
want to blame someone, blame the fool that told him they are worth___ and that they'll pay it..

In many situations on CL, if I REALLY want it, I will offer the Seller a "Non-Refundable Deposit" through Paypal to "Hold" the items until I can make it there. Now granted in this instance, this wouldn't have helped you.
Another thing I do as a seller of items on CL, is I try to take the callers in the order in which they were recievied. I've had people call up and offer my DOUBLE of what the ad said because , "They have cash and can be over in 10 minutes".I tell them, that I have someone ahead of them, and they get all pissed off at me.

If "they" would have given him the money why didnt "they" get the doors? It would have been easier for him to say "...sorry but someone just offered and paid me 3-4 times more per door than what I offered". Something aint right. Chalk it up as another CL experience. And it does suck.....I feel better now

Like I said,show up with cash in hand and close the deal,if the seller doesnt want to accept the cash,then walk away and look for the next deal.Sellers just playing games.
