What should I use to clean my engine block?

Hi Guys,
I bought a 350 block. What can I use to clean it?

Re: What should I use to clean my engine block?

I used oven cleaner and a wire brush on my block when I was rebuilding. I did this before sending it the machine shop to get hot tanked.

Times 3 on the oven cleaner, I go to my local dollar store get a few cans of the cheap stuff, spray let set for a few minutes, then spray it off. If really dirty use the said wire brush. Where safety glasses and gloves because that stuff does burn if you get it in your eyes.

Re: What should I use to clean my engine block?

if you have plans to rebuild ,i would not spend much time cleaning it as dropping it off and getting it tanked at your machine shop will clean it up good
