63 GMC C1000 Fleetside

I've owned my 63 since I was 13. It was my first vehicle. My great grandfather was the original owner, the dealer decal is still on the fan cowling.

This truck has not begun it's rebirth just yet. I want to keep it as original as possible. My only real hang-up is the power plant. I love my 305E V6, and would hate to lose it. I've seen so many beautiful engine resto's, but I have no idea where to begin sourcing parts.

Granted some new parts are available through the local parts store, but major things like pistons and cams are not to be found.

Maybe I'm not looking hard enough, or worse, the parts really don't exist unless i have them made.

Any suggestions would be great, I've started the little things and this truck is still my daily driver. I would hate to lose her.

Agarnas:
You need to visit Jolly's website at:
http://www.6066gmcguy.org/

and join his Yahoo discussion group. The folks dedicated to those engines are over there and can help you source what you need.

Re: 63 GMC C1000 Fleetside

Agarnas,

Welcome, love to see other V-6's join up.

Before Katrina I re-built my 305 from the bottom up, I bought from Kanter and Egge automotive, both have parts from oversized pistons to all the rest.

Join our 60-66 Yahoo group, many guys have extra stuff they can part with. Enay is a goos source try this search string

60-6* GMC

everything under the 60-69 GMC will pop up (If the posted listed it right)

Any question you may have we can answer.

Welcome to the forum

That is cool that your Great-Grandfather bought the truck brand new. And even better is that it is still in the family.

Awesome!! Thank you all for your responses. I will be busy for the next couple weeks searching all the info that was offered. Hopefully my wife will teach me how to use this damn camera and I'll post a few pics.

Thanks again to all.
