Project Casey - 67 Shortbed

Long time lurker, first time poster. Glad to finally be a part of this forum!

For the past year+ I've been searching for a shortbed C10. After looking at countless longbeds, shortbeds that were originally long, some that were crashed, missing way too many parts, etc I found one burried in a guys yard along with a bunch of other C10's.

I found this one on Los Angeles Craigslist a couple months ago. Setup a meeting with the owner and made the forty mile drive to check it out. As soon as he opened up the gate I knew I wanted it. First thing I did was get under it and check to see if it was modified from long to short... nope. While I was down there I noticed a fuel cell under the bed and a different rearend. Having seen the rear, I had to check the front. Sure enough, disc brake swap up front and 5 lugs all around. Opening the hood found a clean 350 from a 1970 Chevy pickup complete with every Edelbrock part you can think of, a set of Hooker Headers and a new radiator. Closed the hood and hopped in.

Once in I realized the interior was pretty much shot, although the bench seat was in decent shape and it had a tilt column. None of the gauges worked, e-brake wasn't hooked up, no carpet, door panels were thrashed, no door handles inside and no glove box, although there is a glove box door.

Started her up, let her run a bit while I checked out the signals and lights. All but the reverse lights worked and a bulb was out but overall, nothing major. Was happy with everything, asked how much, made a counter offer and he took it.

Left in the truck I had been searching for for the past year, had some extra cash in my pocket and a huge smile on my face.

Fast forward two months and I've completely redone the interior aside from the gauge cluster and given it a basic tuneup. The brakes are in dire need of new pads/shoes and there are a couple leaks but again, nothing major. The bed, doors and front left fender need to be adjusted but overall the body is pretty clean.

Its been my DD for the past month and a half so I need to get my other car back on the road before I can tear her apart and install the Painless Wiring harness and other assorted parts I picked up.

Its far from being "finished" but what truck ever is?

Thank you! I'm happy I waited and didn't settle.

Thanks Nate! I have tons of photos of Helios and the C10. I need to take a few with my actual camera, rather than my phone though. These don't look all that well on the computer.

Being a machinist by trade, and having my own machine shop, I have quite a few plans for this, as well as small parts I may make in small batches. Excited to start with all of it.

Re: 67 Chevy C10 Shortbed

Ended up ripping the front bumper off a couple weeks ago while backing out of my alley. Good excuse to put a new bumper on that I've been wanting.
