Electrical help

So here's my problem the fuse box is not getting power but the alt and starter are , headlights only work when motor is running, turn singles and four ways work as well as break lights but no marker lights front or rear , gauges all work but no gauge panel lights except high beam indicator is this one problem or diff ones it's a 85 silverado k10 single cab long bed 350 sbc this it the last thing I need to figure out to get it inspected ne one have ne ideas that this could be

I would start by checking all of my fuses.

I did all of them are good I have to pull them bc there's no power to the fuse block I read on google someone hade the same problem and the only answer was to tighten the block on the fife wall witch u did and it's tight

You likely have a burnt fusible link at the starter.
According to GM, in 1985, power feed to the fuse block is a 3mm˛ (@12awg) red wire circuit #2J. The red wire is protected by the smaller 1mm˛ (@18awg) fusible link at the starter.

The 1985 GM wiring diagrams are in my signature.

I agree fuze link probally burnt

Doesn't a the fuse block get fed off the distribution block in the middle of the firewall?

There's more than one feed and only one of them goes through that distribution block.

Ok so I checked the block on the fire wall every thing is good I'm starting to think its that switch since everything works but the marker lights and the dash lights ne one have ne other ideas what it could be......

The junction block is only part of the main harness feed.
In 1985 GM used two fusible links at the starter. They're separate from the junction block.

How did you check the fusible links?

Those test lights where you clip one end to ground and the other end is pointy is great. You can pierce insulation and see if the wire is hot AND the lamp gives enough of a load to prevent false readings.

Check the fuseable link that is by the firewall between the brake booster and the engine. I have a couple of these go out and now I carry a couple with me in that truck all of the time. I just went to the salvage yard and cut a couple out of the leftover wiring harnesses that were in the trucks.

If you are having to replace a fuseable link more than once you should look for the short or overload or whatever is causing it. It's not

I only had to do it once, but having the extra in the glovebox, is a comfort to know vice having someone haul you home on a flatbed. Especially if you are 3000 miles from home on a trip.
