anyone have pics of a body drop with s10 frame

I am looking for pics of the bed work on a 47-55 with a body drop. Trying to decide if I want to go this route but don't see to many doing it.

Re: anyone have pics of a body drop with s10 frame

Well I am wanting to get the truck real low but without bagging it. The past truck I did had 3 inches between the frame and the cab at least and I just didn't 100 percent like it. I always thought it would've looked better if I lowered the body more and raised the bed floor. So that would drop it another 2 inches easy and then your 2 inch spindles on front and 3 inch blocks on back and I think I would still have 3-4 inches of ground clearance maybe more if I go with 20's

I kinda had the same thought, so I mounted mine 1 5/8" off the frame (I set the cab on wood 2x4's to make the mounts.) You will have to fab a trans hump if you go this route.

How did you do your front and rear bed mounts? My factory bed mounts are rusted away anyway so I was thinking of putting some angle steel up about 2-3 inches up on front and welding in and the same with the sides but haven't really figured out the best way for the rear to make it look correct. Also in the pic do you already have drop spindles and blocks on the rear.

Nevermind I looked at your tread. What about the suspension though.

It's stock suspension. If you get these too low static dropped, you run the risk of tearing off the bottom of your front fender and running boards on dips in the road or manhole covers, etc.

Well yours looks lower than my first one. I had about 3inches between body and frame and 2/3 drop and still had plenty of room when I had 17s on it so I figured going with 20's and all this would be fine.

I'd just figure out the height I wanted my running boards to set at and the set the cab to match. I've thought about setting an extra cab I have on an S-10 frame with no running boards and use a long bed box cut off at the front of the middle post. Then set the bottoms of the doors down just above the scrub line.

Go to low with the cab on the S10 frame and you wont be able to use the S10 gas tank. If that's important then do some measuring.

True but that isn't a big deal for most guys who would lower the cab down on the frame.

The bad thing for those swaps around here is that the cost of dead S-10 trucks has skyrocketed in the past few years up almost to the price of running driving trucks.

For me it would be a way to make a truck out of a bunch of left over pieces that I could use for a daily driver if I wanted to.

Re: anyone have pics of a body drop with s10 frame

I agree 100% about the costs going up on dead S10s. It's rare to find anything less then 4-5 hundred around here now. Buying a running. driving early S10 for 8-9 hundred used to be a fair deal and then sell the parts. Trouble with that now is the flood of S10 body parts out there cheap.
Somewhere out there some one is loading up on old S10 looking at the future. Just think about the guys with a ton of old 40, 50s, 60, cars sitting in a barn. A lot of them are scrapping now because of scrap value but there are still collectors.
