Reclaimed bowling alley wood coffee table for Christmas

I made a coffee table from a piece of bowling alley lane that I had leftover from my kitchen island project (documented in my HUD repossessed renovation thread). 41"x41" square by 18" tall. Frame is standard 2x4 framing stud, doubled up for the legs. A pint of glue, and about 3 pounds of 3" screws hold it together. One heavy mother (guessing in the neighborhood of 200 pounds). Frame is painted Rustoleum Safety Red, one coat. Poly brush-on clear instead of poured on resin for this one though since it's not a food surface and was going for more of a shabby-chic look here. BTW, the "runs" seen in the one picture are the glue runs that were on there when I got the piece and left in place on purpose.

I made this for my girlfriend's mom and dad for Christmas. They love to repurpose things like this and even have a '67 Chevy tailgate as their headboard! They really loved it!

That's really neat !

It's about the same weight of the 2x6 bookcase headboard I built for my king water bed....

That Rock Maple is some heavy duty wood! I burned up two C2 carbide blades before buying a C6 blade rated for 1/8 inch plate steel haha! The wood, but also the large nails holding it together just killed those lesser blades. Cooked a few drill bits too predrilling those screw holes!
