Front tires rubbing, options?

I currently am running a set of front drop springs along with a flip kit in the rear with 2" helper springs. I want to remove to helper springs so I get the ride quality back. Currently as it sits if I hit a big bump in the road my front tires will rub the fender aprins. I will need to lower the front to level out the stance. I am currently looking at getting the c5 front brake kit with the 2.5 spindles. I'd like to take the stock springs and maybe cut a few coils to get the stance right. Anyone know what I can do to maybe raise the aprins or another route to prevent tire rub once its lowered more?

They have a 29" diameter. 255/55-18 are what I am running.

What do you mean by fender aprins? What wheels do you have? Is it a backspace issue?
I cut the fender lip out of my front fenders and drive it slammed, turn corners and if it does happen to rub it doesn't hurt anything

I think he means inter fenders by fender aprins.I would crawl under the front see where its really rubbing and go from there on how to fix it.If its the inter fenders you can mod them taller or remove them.If its the fender lips you can cut or roll them.

Re: Front tires rubbing, options?

I been working on mine for so long without inner fenders that I forgot they came with them.
Since it never rains here the first things to go are inner fenders and windshield wipers.
No use for either

Re: Front tires rubbing, options?

ill try and get a few good pics tomorrow. I need to keep them in place as i daily drive this truck 60+ miles a day rain or shine. I removed the rear helper springs today, man the ride is much much better! feels like a whole different truck! Now the rear sets about 3/4 inch lower then the front. I will probably drive it as is for now till i can afford the c5 brake swap and go from there.

Re: Front tires rubbing, options?

you can see the dark spots is where I am having troubles with it rubbing. I need to lower it another inch in the front to level the truck out.

Re: Front tires rubbing, options?

thanks for the link, i had no idea that was an easy option-the wheels are turning now! as for you're rubbing issue, after seeing the pics it looks like you're going to have to cut up and modify the wheel wells if you want to keep that tire height. should'nt be that big of a deal-if you're at all comfortable with a welder and a cutoff wheel, go for it. you could always get replacements if it doesn't work out.

Re: Front tires rubbing, options?

Yea I fabricate parts, brackets, etc all the time at work so cutting them wont be an issue although I thought about removing them, but i daily this truck rain or shine so i dont want water and road debris flying up under the hood. Also I have the computer and such mounted there. ie the button head bolts. Guess ill deal with it till i need new tires and buy shorter ones then...

Re: Front tires rubbing, options?

I fixed that problem by upgrading to polygraphite bushings. I was able to go a 255/60R15 from a 235/60R15. No more rubbing unless I really push the truck hard on a bump.
