low gloss or semi gloss for engine block paint?

Wanting to get close to an original look what did the factory use on say an 87 silverados block?

i bought some dupli color "low gloss black" and some "semi gloss ford black" the semi gloss looks pretty dang glossy for a semi and the low gloss is fairly flat should be called flat black really.

have any of you guys used either? thanks

I remember VHT having a satin clear in their engine paint choices. You could spray that over a gloss to get more than a flat but less than glossy 'sheen'.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.
