Hello all, just found a 10 bolt 70-81 camaro posi rear end with 273 gears in my hometown. What are the odds someone knows whether this fits in a 1949 Chevy 3100 with a 235 and a SM420? The frame is original, straight, and on the money.

Define fit? You can make it work. But i doubt that the springs are the same with for the rearend. Get out a tape measure and check it out.

Works great on a TF, but I believe a bit too wide for an AD (unless narrowed).

I put one from a '76 into my '53 using CPP 4754RCK kit. It adapts the stock springs to the rear and centers the tires in the wheel well. The Camaro axle is just the right width for an AD truck and has been done many times. I have a 2.73 ratio also and with 255-70 X 15 tires 70 MPH is 2200 RPM. Good score with the posi. Wish I had one. It won't work with the torque tube driveline however.
