87 burb 4.8 Swap wiring

So when you swap out the tbi engine, what do you do with the old harness and ecm? new ecm is stand alone and will only start and run the engine.

Pull as much of the harness and computer as possible and then call it good?

I have been scouring lt1swap.com for info on the ls wiring, but havent found a good resource for 87 wiring and what is removable and what needs to stay.

Really appreciate all the info on here. Making the swap very feasible.

Re: 87 burb 4.8 Swap wiring

I pulled the TBI harness out from the firewall hole, and then traced it back to the bulkhead and pulled out most of the wires from the bulkhead.

You will want to KEEP the following wires, along with anything that does not attach to the TBI harness (wiper/washer wiring should really be all that's left besides what I list below):

Red 14ga - 12v from battery
Tan/White 18ga - to fuel pump
Dark Green 18ga - temp gauge
Purple 12ga - starter crank wire
Red 14ga - 12v to firewall junction block
Tan 18ga - oil pressure sensor

Great info. Thank you. I'm in the process of acquiring everything right now. Only a few odds and ends left.
