Part identification below Voltage Regulator

Hello,

I swapped my generator and voltage regulator setup today for an alternator. I have it complete except for two things: the part pictured below I can't identify. Plugged or unplugged it doesn't seem to matter. And the generator light is now always on. Are these things connected?

Re: Part identification below Voltage Regulator

Note the picture is upside down. The Voltage Regulator sat above this item and it shared a hot (power) wire.
