74 Cheyenne Super upholstery ideas

I recently picked up a pretty clean 74 Cheyenne Super. However, the seats are splitting at the seams (its a quad cab). Is there anywhere I can get this exact upholstery or am I going to be forced to go to a different style? I'd like to keep just like the original.

Check classicindustries.com. I can't say I have ever looked at covers for that year. But if they don't, your only choice would be an upholstery shop.

Prob gonna cost you, but maybe here.

Also, thought I'd mention since I see your in Utah. I ran into a guy doing breaks at the pepboys at 700E at I80 in SL. We got to talking and he mentioned his wife does car upholstery. If you want it may be worth seeing if you can find him. Her name was LaDonna, sorry can't remember his name.

Also, dig the color combo...Good work keeping it alive. Don't let the salt ruin it.

I looked and it doesn't list my material, but I may give them a call and see if they can offer more insight into the years surrounding. Either way, this is an amazing resource that I didn't know about. Thank you for the link!

SMS said they had the fabric I needed. Thy type of material is spot on, kind of a Harrington material. The color is way off. Any idea what the official name of my blue upholster is? Is this medium blue in 74? I'm going to contact them and see if they have the right color. Thank you!

Maybe the sun faded your original material?

Re: 74 Cheyenne Super upholstery ideas, need help!

I could use some help with a counter argument now. SMS fabrics just got back to me and said my seat has just faded that much. I'm okay if they don't have the correct fabric, but I'm upset that they are trying to tell me that the seat has just faded this much. The rear seat of my quad cab is in very nice shape and is the exact same color. Can anyone help me with trim codes or names of these two upholstery colors. I know the difference between a light, medium, and dark blue....these were never the same color.

thanks for your help.

Thanks Joe,
I had thought that for a split second, but I'm convinced that could not be. it would be laughable to put this color with the Hawaiian blue exterior. My back seat shows very well, I can't believe this is a match.
This would look so mismatched if I actually covered my seats in it compared to my dash, carpet, door panels, and vinyl.

Not to be picky, but I believe you mean the material is a type of herringbone. I think it's named for the fact that it looks like a fish spine. I also wondered about the material having faded. I think it would be really apparent where the seat back meets the seat bottom and there should be some material along that area that is not exposed to sunlight. If SMS insists on their perspective tell them to put enough fabric for your seats out into the sunlight for the next 30 years and call you when it's ready, haha. Regardless of all that, that is a great truck. Really like the colors, the trim, etcetera. Glad you are keeping it stock.

That truck looks killer. I was looking for one that color or the green a while back.
Good luck with the seats.

Re: 74 Cheyenne Super upholstery ideas

I,m not 100% positive, but I don't think that is original seat upholstery you have...I have owned a cheyenne super before and it had vinyl seats,I have only seen vinyl seats in the early square bodies,I own a 74 cheyenne now and it originally had vinyl,I had the seat redone in cloth and vinyl....so originality may be gone already in your truck, then find some nice blue cloth and vinyl and have them redone however you want....really like your truck!!!!

Re: 74 Cheyenne Super upholstery ideas

Take a look at the thread I had on an original 73 Cheyenne Super I used to own. Definitely original interior. Probably one of the best I have owned and I have had a few originals. You can see the pattern is the same as yours. Even the horizontal stripe down low on the seat back.

That is a sick truck!! The paint and interior are awesome. Like the cb and antenna too.

I just picked up a 74' Cheyenne Super recently as well. Single cab long bed.
