door not locking correctly

Hi, I got my truck painted a few years ago, replaced the locks ,anyway, after i lock the drivers side , i can push the handle in several times and the door will eventually unlock by itself...what would cause this? any ideas? its scary that its not very secure.....any help would be appreciated

You are locking the door with the key aren't you? You have to use the key to lock the doors. If so try pushing in on the door while turning the key to make sure the lock goes all the way into the locked position.

Had a similar problem with my truck. I wasn't able to find the cause, but did find that if I attached a spring inside the door to always keep constant "down" or locking direction on the lock button mechanism, the door would stay locked. An imperfect solution, but as you said, scary that it's not secure otherwise.

Try pushing in on the door as you lock it. See if problem persists.
