64 GMC Dana 60 torque specs
Hey guys, any of you have the torque specs for the axle hub nuts on a rear dana 60 under my 64 GMC? Time to do axle seals. Thanks!

I have the '68 Chassis Service Manual and Chassis Overhaul Manuals. [Might be close.] No listing for Dana 60 per se, but I get 2400 thru 3600, 65 Ft Lbs for Wheel Stud Nuts, and under Axle Shaft To Hub Bolts there is a long dash -- in this range. For 5200 thru 7200, Hub Bolts specifies 90 Ft Lbs and 75 Ft Lbs for Wheel Stud Nuts Carrier Cover bolts torque to 20 Ft Lbs in both cases. Hope this helps.

Re: 64 GMC Dana 60 torque specs
Hub nuts----there are 2 per side with washers in between. Inside nut gets tightened down with hub still being able to turn. Back it off till loose then tighten by hand until it stops ZERO torque, install center locking washer, put on other nut and tighten that down tight but don't go gorilla on it. Fold tab outward over a flat spot from washer--done
Lug nuts on a 3/4 ton take more than 75 lbs torque...more like 95 for 1/2'' stud and 110 for a 9/16 |
