76 Terry Taurus

Few years back we bought an old 76 trailer where the wifes brother camps
knew it was leakin but didn't know where
so we torn out some old ceiling to figure it out
roof supports were toast so we went with 2x3 with cut to a curve ends to help water run off
instead of 1x2 quite spaced we did 2x3 every 16 down the roof

Re: 76 Terry Taurus

we renforced the roof as we felt my 300lbs might be to much for it
we removed the leakin hot water tank(going electric)
the bed across the back was a useless super single
going to make a king size outa it,
by removing cupboards
but to do that we had to rip out the old bed and walls down to the floor
wife made new covers for the cushions

with the walls not holding much up including the trailer we had stuffed the underbed with everything we could to keep the bed up lol
the upper drop sides and golf clubs plus other bits of wood

with the wallsand floor torn out we were able to spread out the walls and with 2x4 to the roof pushed the roof back up to where it should be

Re: 76 Terry Taurus

we built a new floor with 3/4 inch plywood overlapping
if i fall threw the roof don't wana go threw the floor too
with the back opened up we slid in the new floor
supported to the roof
this floor was built in the fall when the camp is closed
and the trailer was left with the supports to the roof all winter
the next spring we started the back walls

great job on the camper, my grandparents use to take us camping in a terry of about the same vintage. Looks like a great place to camp.

Re: 76 Terry Taurus

Spring of 2010 the owners of the park were putting up new hydro/poles
When we opened we decided to build a new deck as this one was gettin soggy and moved when walked on
Insides withstood another winter no probs
no wonder it's a very weak deck

Re: 76 Terry Taurus

thanks guys
its sure a lotta work when you start rippin
If i was to do it again i'd prob go start with a bigger trailer
level it flat and build it up from the floor in a square(of course) shape
like a house, with house type windows/doors,the none drafty kind

and after a year of using the deck,we love it.best upgrade yet

na he's not spoiled eh....mmmmm bacon
behind me you can see i moved the corner support for the gazebo out to gain access to the shed area
next year we are gona pull it out and leave more room in front of the BBQ/shed

somebody said there were bears seen on the beach....compared to buddys paw i duno

Re: 76 Terry Taurus

hahaha.. that looks smaller than a bear print.. although it could be a small bear, but the shape of it definently does look like a bear print

Re: 76 Terry Taurus

Thats the most amazing thing I've ever seen done to a trailer, you are a great carpenter and designer! It was really something how fixing a leak turned into a remodeling of the whole trailer. What did you do with your old work of art? And where did you get that wicker blade fan? I love wicker blade fans and cant find them anywhere!

Re: 76 Terry Taurus

thanks
the fan was a cheapy only wicker for one side
lol the work of art is sold, but sitting in storage till we move it
seems the jerk that did all the work didn't bolt the box to the floor lol
(I couldn't get under it in the spot)
there were bets on wether it could still be intact (or roll sideways down hill )
after pulling out....no probs
