My all Kevin's fault porject 1995 K1500

LOL After following Kevin (TX Firefighter's) thread I got the itch to get a gmt400. Found this truck on Craigs list for $500 obo, offered him $400 and $75 for fuel in my buddys truck to tow it home, not a bad deal.
First pic of it in my yard..

This is what it needs so far that I know of.
U-joint rear drive shaft
Power steering hose leak somewhere
Drivers side outside door handle and fix the inside door handle.
Door hinge bushes
Drivers side door panel needs work.
R/S exhaust leak, bolt to y pipe are broken off the manifold
Oh almost forgot needs cab corners and rockers too..
And the brakes need to be checked out, pedal is low and brake is on.

Already took the running boards off and threw them in the scrap pile.
This is the first truck I have brought in a long long time that I could actually drive on the trailer. Runs and drives, luckily with 4wd I tied up the rear drive shaft, threw it in 4 lo and motored it on the trailer.
Runs good, about 285K on it but no smoke when it starts up and the it is a one owner vehicle.

More pics coming, on the fence about getting a fleet side bed or leaving it a step side.

Re: My all Kevin's fault porject 1995 K1500

Got a lot done today..

Did the door hinge bushings and pins (door shuts nice now)
Inside and outside door handles, had to do the outside door handle twice, didn't have something right and couldn't get the door open.

Great write up here...

http://www.gmt400.com/forum/showthre...in-Replacement

I just used my floor jack to hold the door while I was doing the bushings.

Also got the r/s exhaust manifold replaced, had to fab up some holders for the downpipe, the flange clamp was totally rotted away.

New tailgate straps are on, and I replaced the high pressure power steering line that was leaking.

Need to troubleshoot why the brake and abs lights are on though.

Pic of all the new parts...

I usually check Craigs list first, then the bone yards.

Today I took it for a longer ride to make sure the trans shifted ok and it does!
But I have about 2 miles of play in the steering so I guess I will be ordering up some steering parts.

And I have a dang squeak coming from around the trans, flexplate, engine area, my buddy says it's a cracked flexplate, argh I don't want to have to change the flexplate.. the L/S exhaust manifold studs are rusted bad...
