They listened lets use it!

I asked for an LS swap forum because the information was all over and there is lots of good information on this site.

I hope it helps a lot of people thinking of putting an LS in something.

Thanks

Not a bad idea. Liz, could we make a sticky that contains links to all of the know LS swap threads/build threads? Just one thread stuck that contains links?

Re: They listened lets use it!

A very timely topic. I have encouraged such swaps on the '88-98 forum and have thrown in the link to Street and Performance (www.hotrodlane.cc). They have put LS engines in many vehicles and even have some LS9 swap info, plus LS engines for sale....if you want prices to compare.

Re: They listened lets use it!

I just found this forum and have read a bunch of the threads on here. I am in the process of putting a 5.3 into an 87 4x4 Longbed truck. I read all the swaps thinking it wouldn't be too bad, but it doesn't look like many people have done 4x4's!

I am new to the truck scene, but I am pretty well versed in LS engines. I drag race and daily drive my 2006 GTO. I am building the truck to daily drive and tow the car around. It was much cheaper then buying a new truck, plus it gave me a little project to have some fun with.

Looking forward to being a part of the forum, thanks for all the info I have goten so far!

Re: They listened lets use it!

This is great I am looking for a LS and tranny now maybe this will help with the hiccups that come with these kinda of upgrades. Everything I do takes twice as much and as long because I screw it up and have to do it over.

Re: They listened lets use it!

This is what we needed! I am in the starting phase of putting an LS 5.3/4L60E into a 68 Shortbed that I bought w/o engine or trans in pieces. I'm sure this will help me! Still working on the frame and suspension right now, but am getting close to where I need to be for setting in the engine and trans. I went with the ECE kit for the mounts. Has anyone else used this kit? Anything I need to know about it? I will probably wait to start the wiring until after I get the cab finished and painted, then set it back on. Anyone have recomendations for a fuel tank/pump setup for a shortbed, leafspring truck?

I'm using the ECE engine mounts, and a CPP tubular trans crossmember.

No issues with the mounts, just need to drill 4 holes in the stock front crossmember.

It didn't come with bolts that go into the block, but it's otherwise complete.

Ya, it looks pretty complete. I have already drilled the holes and am waiting until I get done POR15ing the frame and cross members before I bolt them in. I just used the stock mount bolts on the block plates. The heads were a little large, but I think they will work. I used the stock hole location on the frame and drilled the holes in the crossmember accordingly. Will that put it in a good position? Will I need to think about moving it forward or back any? Also thinking about using the stock trans crossmember for now, although that will be determined once I set everything in there.

Thanks for the feedback.
