I'm curious about that too. The 71 parts manual references this part number for blazers and suburban cargo doors. Seems like you would just need to drill out that rivet and maybe angle cut one of the corners.

Internals are the same, I've never checked a suburban latch before but when you cut or grind the countersink off so it sets flat, it's going to make the holes much larger.
