New toy. What should I do with it?? Help me out!!!
I got this 86 for a shop truck build, Its pretty solid and could not pass it up. I did not need or want it, but could not pass it up.LOL. I want to do a video of a DETAILED frame chop from long to short bed. Many videos of what people do are out there, but they skip so much. So may do that for the channel. gonna start of with a 99 l29 454 with a 700r4, blow it up and rebuild with Upgraded parts. then go LS or LT with a LSA and 6l80e. Going to experiment with this truck. What do you want to see.
I have a complete short bed step side just waiting for the cut of this truck LOL. https://youtu.be/ZaDmoKtkjc4 |

Other option would be to keep it a long bed and and make it look look like a C20 with a 454/4l80e and name it brute

Fix it up, leave the mechanics as-is and find it a good home. Chop the stuff you can't revive or that's too far gone, resurrect and rebuild the rest. Hey, you asked |

If you want a suggestion for an engine swap that's not very common -- Demonstrate a L83 engine paired with a nv4500, and set it up for dependable daily driving. I can't find evidence that anyone has done it. The crank flange, bell housing, and computer tunes will all give you trouble.
Edit: it doesn't have to be a nv4500 or a L83. Just any of the gen-5 engines mated to a manual trans and in a 4wd truck.

Looks like a nice starting point. Interior panels look very decent so inside should clean-up fairly easy. Outer sheet metal has the typical TX clear-coat evaporation issue. Probably no rust but you never know until things come a little farther apart.
Snip it. Change it. Do what you want. It's yours to play with. I like the initial efi'd BBC/OD trans idea. Sounds like a good work combo. I'll keep an eye out for update progress & watch the videos.
