Any suggestions on roll bar installs?

I got a full cage kit from broncobob.com for my 72 K5 Blazer yes he makes them for things other then bronkos. I like his larger but not huge 2" pipe that he uses. I did opt for a double bar right behind the seats and plan to only install the double bar behind the seats and the one normal support bar going back towards the rear. Later I might add the rest of the cage as I was un decided about what I wanted. He said I could order the rest of the cage later but with shipping twice it would cost the same as getting it all now. Anyway I am about to have someone install this and was wondering what were the best procedures for this? Do they just bolt to the bead or are they somehow connected to the frame? Do these really provide much protection if one were to roll?
Not that I think I ever will just wondering.
Also wondering if I should paint it black/white or maybe chrome it?
I am leaning towards black on my bronze blazer with white interior what do all of you think would be best?

Thanks PG
