SBC vs LS Engine Location

So I plan to do a LS/NV3500 swap in the future and currently have a 350/TH350 setup. The issue I have is the motor is good but the trans is not so I would like to convert to the NV3500 now and LS later. I however don't want to make a crossmember/cut the driveshaft etc. twice. Would the SBC engine and LS rest in the same location so if I install the NV3500 now, I wouldn't need to move it later (or move it very minimally so I can just slot the crossmember and take up the play in the driveshaft) when installing the LS? Thanks.
