does a 2/4 drop lower cargo capacity?

I'd like to do a drop on my 70 short/step. I'm kinda thinking a 2/4 drop, maybe 3/5, because I'm thinking a 4/6 would loose all the cargo carrying capacity. Any truth to that? I use my truck as a work truck, hauling firewood, mulch, gravel, scrap metal, etc, so I don't want to loose cargo capacity. That said, if I could do a 4/6 drop and maintain capacity, bring it on! That would be ideal to me. What do those of you who have done a drop know about this?
