Can I paint a chome bumper
I got a chrome 72 bumper that Pont needs, but he wants a painted bumper. Is there a primer that will work in the chrome so the paint will still the same as a painted one. I know they make a special primer for galvanized stuff.
Anyone ever paint chrome before and how well did it work Thanks in advance

There is an epoxy etching primer, but I've never seen anything paintwise stick to chrome for any length of time - I have heard of guys sandblasting a chrome part first before painting - maybe this might help.

No problem, just simply use a dual action [D A] sander to cut in to the shiney finish. You need to use an epoxy primer such as dupont uro, it is expensive but you will have great results. I have done this many times. GOOD LUCK!

However, you may be unhappy with the durability of a painted bumper. I've had 3 vehicles in my life where I painted the bumper, and it was a nightmare... rock chips just ate them up.
If you've seen my other thread on the bumper I'm doing now, I've decided to powdercoat. Now I'm just looking for a good color match, and if I don't find one, I may have to go chrome. But the chrome shops I've talked to so far are apparently trying to finance new jet boats with my wallet  Kenneth

XXL you can buy new repo bumbers cheaper than geting an old one chromed
