Re: "All Out Original 72"
I have entered the 72 in 5 shows so far, one this weekend with 250+ entries. Believe it or not, it has won 5, "Best of Show" awards!!! It has also picked up a "Best Paint" award, a "Best Engine" award, and 2 "Choice" awards!, plus the 1st in class awards!
I still can't believe it's doing so well? It's a "Green", longbed truck.... LOL! This all just doesn't make sense! I know all of you know the quality of the other entries at any show, it just blows me away that it's winning any of these things? Thanks to all of you for the wonderful comments!!!! They are DEEPLY APPRECIATED for sure! God Bless! |

Re: "All Out Original 72"
There's no way it couldn't win. With the amount of detail you have put in to this thing it is just an absolute jaw dropping master piece. I commend you on an excellent build. Here's to another five best in show awards!

Re: "All Out Original 72"
Thanks guys! The truck now has a new home. I ended up showing the truck 6 times in all, and it won 6 for 6, "Best Of Show" awards!!! Plus the other awards mentioned before. Really amazing, and odd?
I am building a 'Medium Green' and 'White' one now. I have the frame sandblasted etc. So I have several months to go... I finished the last one in less than 9 months, and I hope this one goes quicker. It will be the same caliber of truck as the last. Once again, Thanks to everyone, for the nice comments, I hope in some way the build helped someone with their own project! |

It was featured on the Spike TV show, "Trucks"/"Powerblock" on December 26,2010! The last show of the year! What an honor to it's late owner! I added a couple of pics, it's an awesome ride! Last edited by roadracer9; 01-17-2011 at 10:15 PM. |

Re: "All Out Original 72"
Very very sad about Tommy's passing. He was way too young. Never got to tell him in person how much I loved his Truck. Probably my favorite Classic Truck ever. Didn't know it got featured on Powerblock. That's great!

Re: "All Out Original 72"
The TV show was awesome!!! I'm sure he was smiling! TC is taking good care of it. We're thinking of tearing it back down, when I finish the latest 72, tubbing it, and building an engine with a supercharger out of the hood..... it has an LT1 with the 4L60E, but he wants more! Best wishes "T"!

Re: "All Out Original 72"
Gonna have to see if I can't find that episode Mark. I could see tubbing the rear. What width rear wheels is he running now?

Re: "All Out Original 72"
They are 8 or 10 inch, on a Chevy Colorado rear end with a 4 link and coilovers.
I wanted to Armorall the tire treads in that pic, and they said it wouldn't show...I did get to play with Courtney's ruby red shoes from Paris, she's more than meets the eye for sure, she's not reading from a monitor, she reads the lines for a few minutes before the take, and has it memorized that quick! Amazing, I've never met anyone with that kinda memory. |

Re: "All Out Original 72"
Yes, I am building one like this for someone. Medium green, and white, but with a wood floor this time. It should be as nice, or better than the last I hope! Already have most everything for it, so it should go pretty fast, the weather isn't cooperating very well right now! I need to get the frame home from the blaster...

Re: "All Out Original 72"
You got another build thread for the other 72 you are building?
Got my 68 in Dad's garage right now. Been putting the wood floor back in it.

This truck will have a wood floor, Cypress, I'm still debating on painting it, the wood was supposed to be painted either black, or the color of the truck. I'm building this one to compete for an AACA Senior title, so it needs to be painted... |

Re: "All Out Original 72"
That was a very nice comment!!! I agree with you, these trucks look really nice restored to original. They are an eye catcher for sure! I have done the chop, drop, flop, thing ( About to do a 40 Plymouth coupe), but original is much harder, you have to follow a guidline, and everyone picks out the finest of details! With modified builds, you can use you're own imagination, the sky, and dollars, are the only limits! Thanks again!

Re: "All Out Original 72"
Well, it is pretty easy to pickout the finest details on your '72. It starts at the front bumper and ends at the rear bumper, then start at the ground and go upt o the roof. See? Simple!

Re: "All Out Original 72"
I picked up some old weathered barnwood on a job in Georgia and had a family member that owns a cabinet shop over in Cottontown to plane it down, cut it to length, and cut the grooves in it. Turned out great for my build. Just letting you know in case you decide to do your own wood instead of buying it.
http://s305.photobucket.com/albums/n...t=IMAG0469.jpg I would ride over right now if I knew you were gonna be there. Killing some time today.

Re: "All Out Original 72"
Hey Roadracer where are you I am in Pulaski, TN, there is a member here on the board with an NOS wood floor I will find his info and PM you.
What town are you in I would love to stop by and get some ideas I am in a debate with myself about the metal work my local guy here is saying give him a day and I have stoped in and talked with another forum member about doing the work but he is a couple hundred miles away. Nothing beats good prep work. Any ideas where a man can find good NOS parts I am always looking. West
