Re: you want to change your 5X5 bolt pattern on 73-87 disc to 5X4.75

I search POL and CPP's website.
It appears the 5x4.75" rotor are for the 11" 69-74 chevelle rotors (thanks crazy longhorn) that use a custom bracket that attaches to a 63-70 "drum brake" front spindle.
These require a 69-72 Camaro caliper.

CPP's complete kit, (part# 6370WBK-5) is $375.00.
Or just the bracket kit for $119.00. Part#6370DBK

Again sorry for the confusion I caused.

Yes, those spindles, designed for 1" thick rotors, will allow installation of the 5x4.75 camaro 1LE rotors. Post some pics here when you get them on!

Thanks for the response gringoloco. I really appreciate it and I will definately repost before and after pics. Gonna rebuild the entire front end while I'm replacing the spindles and installing the new rotors!

I dont think those brakes will work with 15" wheels. Talk to way2low2 for advice on what will work.

The 88-92 Camaro 1LE (Heavy Duty) rotor is the exact same blank as the 81-87 light duty truck rotor, which is the same part number as the 78-92 B-body 'big car' 5x5 rotor and will accept the factory light duty truck calipers in the factory position on the truck spindle. The F-body rotor has the same 11.88x1.1" dimensions and bearings as the truck rotor, just with a 5x4.75 bolt pattern instead of 5x5. Upgrading to B-body spindles w/ 1LE rotors is a common practice on GM cars with short spindles-- they gain the camber benefits of the tall spindle and upgrade from 10.5" to 12" rotors. This swap simply capitalizes on the GM pars bin mentality- the only difference between this setup and a 'normal' truck brake setup is the rotors.

All of that to say this: He should only have the same possibility of lower control arm clearance issues that all lowered 63-87 trucks have when using drop spindles with 15" wheels, depending on wheel backspacing.

Its been a while since I played with Camaro stuff, but I remember when there was a big interest in converting to 1LE brakes. Now that I think about it there was one guy that managed to massage them to fit in the stock 15" Camaro wheel. Most everyone else upgraded to the 16"+ IROC wheels and solved the issues.

Ah, I see- now we're tracking Yes, small diameter car wheels will be very close with the bigger rotors and calipers. As with all custom setups, measure once--cut twice!

I wouldn't think so, but convos are drag wheels which aren't generally known for having great brake clearance. Maybe check around the F-body forums to see if anyone is running that combo...

Re: you want to change your 5X5 bolt pattern on 73-87 disc to 5X4.75

Gents,

Instead of ordering drop spindles could I just replace the front springs instead or cut the ones I have now to lower it a couple of inches? I know it will probably change the geometry a little bit and make the ride a little different but I have seen front spring lowering kits and just wanted to get your opinions. Thanks.

Re: you want to change your 5X5 bolt pattern on 73-87 disc to 5X4.75

gringoloco, thanks for posting those pics what are the 2 bolt patterns on your rotors?

I have a curve ball for you guys, I have a 64 C/10 and I want to run a 5 x 4.5 bolt pattern wheel!! Yes this is the anti-christ of ideas, it happens to be a Ford wheel, but almost nobody will identify it as such. I plan on running a Ford 9" in the rear so I think I have a handle on the rear. ANY HELP HERE??

Re: you want to change your 5X5 bolt pattern on 73-87 disc to 5X4.75

k... this thread gets a little confusing... I have some drop spindles on my truck installed by the PO. not sure what the brand is. The front is disc brakes though... Can I put the g10 rotors directly on the spindles I have now? I am pretty sure that the G10 spindles use an A3 outer bearing and an A5 inner bearing. I am trying to confirm that now, and its driving me nuts. Also, what does height mean on a rotor?
