Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Paul,
So very sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers for comfort to you and your family.

Lost my sister in law the same way back in 2016, she was only 42 and my wife's younger sister. Two weeks later lost a good friend of mine and our last conversation he had called to check on how my wife was doing.

Hope you are doing well, Paul.

Anyone can open a paint can and put paint on things. It's doing it neatly that makes a painter. Many who call themselves painters out there aren't. Many who don't call themselves painter will paint for the money.

Sitting on the square in Mt. View Arkansas with my wife. Got a belly full of Tommy’s Famous Pizza and waiting on the band to fire up. The band is a bunch of guys from my hometown just down the road.

Ripped the mustang apart to get it ready for paint. I have less than a month to get body work and paint done so I can attend the biggest car show in the area.

Man that is ambitious good luck. Make sure to show us pics when it’s done. Wish mine would have only taken a month not sat in paint jail for almost 3 years

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Got 22 tons of gravel delivered and the truck got stuck in the mud . Had to dig out the gravel behind the the dump so he could back up onto the gravel then I put gravel down and got him out . I did some spreading but the sky opened up and hasn’t stopped . Hope to have the garage up soon

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

It sure did rain. It's a good thing the truck was delivering gravel so you had plenty of gravel to help get him out from delivering gravel.

We're way above the average rainfall. Seems the country flopped and were getting Seattle weather every other day it's raining

Amen to that.

The lake is getting low and there's another fire here. Rain would be welcomed.

And we would love to receive it! A nice weekend for us would be a nonstop drenching downpour. Of course, after the fires, that would also mean mudslides, rockslides, debris slides, trees on the road, clogged culverts, roads washed out..... Gotta be careful what I ask for! Maybe off-n-on showers for a couple weeks.....

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

My wife and I went for a morning ride in the convertible and breakfast. Little town about 30 miles away. The cafe had the typical group of locals that eye ball you as you come in the cafe. Great food. They must of had a good weekend because they were out bacon and hash browns. Had to settle for eggs over easy and patties.
The weather was great. Mid 60's in the morning and mid 70's late morning. Fantastic convertible weather.

Got the ends up . Pain in the butt working by myself but I did it. Love how the directions say average time to assemble is 4 hours ya if your on blacktop or concrete and have done a few hundred .

Need to let the sun relax the canvas so I can tighten it up a bit then put on the main cover

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Today I read my brothers will. It was an eye opener. It was written by a man that knew that his days were numbered. His death may have come as a shock to us. But he knew. He just put on a happy face and no one knew. He didn't want to burden anyone. According to him everything was fine. All sunshine and rainbows. But that wasn't the truth. He was gravely ill. And he was very good at covering it up.

Me? I'd be b!tching and screaming like a stuck pig. He never said a word.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

My wife decided it was a good time to rip out the carpet out of our boys' room so I could lay down some laminate in there. I knew it was coming. She bought some lightly used stuff removed from a sold remodeled house this spring. It is currently stored in the covid hut I built for the kids last year. It will be hard for them to use that this winter if this is still full of flooring. And if anyone is using it for storage, it'll be me. I'll just make a mini man cave out of it. Haha

On Sunday I got all but one small row done in the boys' room. Monday my wife decided she hated the kitchen floor and we should replace it too. Yeah, I also knew this was coming. I laid down some peel and stick tile in there last fall and it sure didn't last. The stuff stuck just fine but it chips easy and looked awful.

I cheated when I laid that stuff down and left the original layer of laminate vinyl and the foam that was there. It was laid down first then everything set on top of it. This time I ripped out all the old and scrapped the floor. It's all done now except for trimming the trim below the cabinets.

Next is the gate for the stairs leading to upstairs she wants made. I asked her, "I really can't do this stuff in winter lady?"

That reminds me about the Blackstone she got too....... She purchased one online and it was only $100. I thought it was very strange but I didn't say anything. Maybe I am learning. Needless to say it never showed up. My wife knew my Dad had one he hadn't used for a long while so she has me hit him up about it. He ended up selling it to us and that meant olé Ryan was wire wheeling the top of this unit so it could be used. I even did the bottom and then painted the bottom and top edges with high heat paint to try to keep it from rusting back. 8-10hrs later she was able to season it. No wonder I can't get any work of my own done. She loves cooking on it and she can cook things faster on it so it wasn't all bad.

When I picked up wood for the gate project, I had to cringe. No wonder wood is so expensive here. Or, this has to be part of it. They ship this stuff in from New Zealand? That can't be cheap. There most likely was no shortage the last half a year. The stuff was probably on ships waiting to be off loaded and delivered.

Honey-do x 10! You work fulltime, right? Busy busy. I see lumber marked made in Sweden and now New Zealand? I'd like to travel there, always did. I even have a friend who moved there to stay with and be taken around. He's a great sportsman and very adventurous. But... I can't justify the travel cost. Now I'm really bummed. Lumber can afford it but I can't
