Post no wonder it ran so bad..................

Notice anything out of place?

how about that rocker arm.........this is what I found when I pulled the valve cover. The funny thing is that this is a GM Target Master engine too. I yanked this out of the parts truck the other day.

I hate it when 1 cylinder gets lazy and makes the others do all the work.

I had that same thing happen to me in my '72 Chevelle. I was 200 miles from home partridge hunting when I noticed it was running funny. I made it all the way home like that.

Well, its a good thing that it was the intake rocker that came loose instead of the exaust. imagine pulling in air/fuel, having combustion and having nowhere for it to exaust before it starts the intake stroke again....DOH!

ya that's kind of what I was thinking Denny, that would be bad!! There are several others that are loose too. this one ran ok just seemed like it had on of the lobes rounded off on the cam.

Great time for a bad boy cam.
Would guide plates have saved this from happening?

DennyB is right. I had that happen to an exhaust rocker on my vette. It was like someone was hitting the crank with a hammer and blowing back up the intake when the intake valve opened.

no everything is still there just looks like you loosened up the nut and turned the rocker. as for a cam, this motor is going to get torn down and redone. it will eventually find a home in our 55 chevy. this is the second or third motor that was in my parts truck and the truck has somewhere around 250,000 miles on it.

Just think, the manufacturers actually built high dollar engines and management systems to drop cylinders under light loads for fuel economy. You need to file for a patent!

Wonder if a F#$d would run that way?
