Post How much to drop?

Just checking with the experts...I want to drop my '68 so that it rides level and so the wheels fill the wheel openings, but don't go above the top lip of the wheel openings. I'm installing an '85 front end. How much should I drop in front/rear? Where is the best-bet for drop parts?

Look at the stance photos on the Early Classic Enterprises site.... 2 1/2 inch spindles up front and 4 inch coils in the back oughta get you low n level...

i would say go for a 5/7 drop but thats just me cause i like tuckin rim..lol actually though i would recommend a 4/6 because although a 3/5 does look good it still likes about 2in in the front and rear for the tire to be even with lip of fender. but either one will look good so its up to you. go to early classic and look at there pics for some examples. later

2/3 will fill the wheel openings with the right tire and rim combol, and rides just about level. I have that on my 68 SWB and I love it. If you want pics let me know and I can shoot some for you.

I dropped mine 4/5, spindles and springs. Probably as low as you can go safely without airbags. I went 5 in the back to maintain the factory rake. I loved the factory stance just wanted to lower it, not level it...

Thanks for the tips guys. The truck pics are really helpful - the picture of haulna's truck really shows the drop well. 72chevylwb's truck striks a chord - I hope to use that color. I was thinking of a 2/4 drop with big rims, but maybe I'll need to reconsider.

Its a 3/5 with 17" American Racing wheels. 255/50/17 Bridgestone Ponenza RE730 tires all around. The tires are 27" tall where a 275/60/15 is 28" tall
