Re: 1972 Door panels on 1970 truck

To my knowledge the window crank handle stems are longer on the 72 and shorter on the 70.........if I screwed this info up please let me know. I have a non 72 door on the right side of my truck but used plastic 72 door panels on both sides.

Me too, I have been a fan of the 72 door panels since the beginning.

Re: 1972 Door panels on 1970 truck

So you have to swap out the window regulators and door release to use the 72 panels? Somewhere I've seen some crank handle extenders to accomodate this swap. I've not seen any in use however. They are just splined extensions to reach through the thicker panel. Anyone else seen these?

Re: 1972 Door panels on 1970 truck

If you don't mind a little customizing they can be installed without the longer shafts like Hoss72 did. You can also replace that whole flat section with something else. Here's what I did on a 69 I used to own, and the second pic belongs to "Piece of Work." You could put whatever you want in there covered, painted, chromed, cardboard ...
