The sales rep said next year they will be in the new catalog but their will be a star after them that means only avalible if in stock. They will not have any more made after 2 months. You can call bestop and ask them.

Re: Possible Soft-top Supplier

If this is true, then I guess I would need to go ahead and buy one from besttop. That being said, I was really hoping someone would buy STC and make the fastrac top. I would even prefer paying $1200 for a canback rather than shelling out over 7 bills for a top I'm not crazy about. What to do?

Look for a used one, get the vinyl remade and you'd probably be right around the cost of the elusive CanBack.

Howdy, Mike. Can you provide additional info about a group purchase? How many tops constitute a group? Cost per top per #users?

Moderator(s), I'm not sure whether we are treading into buy/sell territory here. Please inform as to whether this thread needs to migrate into the buy/sell section.

Thx!

Re: Possible Soft-top Supplier

All right everyone, I went straight to the source on this one, and e-mailed Bestop. I asked if they were going to discontinue the the top and if parts are going to be available after production stopped. Here is what they e-mailed back.

Thank you for writing.

Jeff,
This top will be discontinued at the end of this year, however, we
will be having piece parts (hardware) for 4-5 years after the discontinue.

Thank You

Mine has been on backorder for about a month. I'll get it when I get it?? It would probably be in peoples best interest to order one if they think they are going to want one. Custom made will be all that is left and $$$$

Not sure! More than 2
Cost would just depend on how many purchased one. We have to buy from our distributor and not Bestop. They said they would be willing to restock them for a purchase. We would have to ship them out, which is an added cost unless picked up. (Major W/D's generally do not drop ship). They could possibly spread them out through their other warehouses to put in will call, however thats only good for a 6 or 7 states.

Re: Possible Soft-top Supplier

I spearheaded an attempt for a group buy from CanBac over on CK5.

I was in contact with CanBac for about a year with the development of a 1st gen Blazer convertable top.

Here is that post.

And then the follow-up.

$10.95 handling, shipping is free, I don't think there is any way to get around the handling.

Re: Possible Soft-top Supplier

BobbyK, you mentioned that Canback did some one-offs for our model truck. In your communication with them, did you get the impression that would be willing to do another one-time run?

Re: Possible Soft-top Supplier

The owner said he was not interested as our market is "Too small"...not worth the R+D.
I asked if he was going to be producing one in the future...he said he had no plans to.

If you want a custom,"one-off' top, they'll do it...but it will cost you.
The one-off's they had done were more than 3 grand.

Re: Possible Soft-top Supplier

Thanks for the info. I guess I've got to get my gun (Credit Card) out and pull the trigger. I won't bother trying to pick it up since the shipping is free.
