Re: The LS1 swap headers are done!!!!

Going to do the 5.3 swap next month and am seeing alot of issues about clearance between the headers and CPP motor mounts. I have a pair or tubular motor mounts from Performance Online, does anyone know if they will hit also ????

I think that was the post that first raised the Porterbuilt issue. At any rate, it was only late August that PB mentioned something (in their response to that post -- #123 in this thread) about maybe looking at building their own. I imagine it's pretty tough to bring newly designed headers to market in just two months.

To keep up with current productioin and work loads, developing a new product would take more than a couple of months for sure!!

Re: The LS1 swap headers are done!!!!

I'm not opposed to trimming/recessing the firewall in order to make a clean set of headers fit. Any guesses on how big of an area would need to be modified?

Re: The LS1 swap headers are done!!!!

Just a quick heads-up .... Doug Thorley is now selling these directly for $528. Use promo code DT (advertised prominently right on their website) and take 10% off. With free shipping, that's $475.20. Helluva deal compared with what I paid.

http://www.dougthorley.com/CartGenie/prod-10.htm

EDIT: Got looking at it more closely and I guess it's not Thorley selling direct but BNR Performance operating with the dougthorley.com domain. Whatever the case, it's a helluva price.

With all due respect, I don't think pestering us will help. From the look of this thread, only one person has tried the headers with the Dropmember. If I were you I'd send a message to atp, the person who reported the issue in post #122 (just go back a page) and ask him for specific details about the fitment issues he encountered. I doubt he's monitoring this thread and just ignoring you.

Good luck!

Re: The LS1 swap headers are done!!!!

I called bnr performance (www.dougthorley.com) about some headers for my 71 and he is offering 15% off of the price listed on the webstore if you enter promo code 6772, that brings these headers down to $448.80 shipped! Crazy good deal! He said that deal would work on all headers as well, not just the LS1 conversion headers.
